Jules Verne was a French novelist, poet, and playwright born on February 8, 1828 in Nantes, France. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest science fiction writers of all time, and is best known for his adventure novels such as “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea,” and “Around the World in Eighty Days.” Verne’s works have inspired countless writers, filmmakers, and adventurers and have been translated into over 100 languages. He died on March 24, 1905 in Amiens, France.
